Ballet Essence Program
Our daughters love dancing with Dance Creations! The classes are fun and engaging and we have enjoyed watching their love of dance and skills develop. Miss Terrie and her fellow teachers go above and beyond to create an inclusive and welcoming dance school where dancers of all abilities are welcome. We feel so lucky to have found such a lovely dance school for our girls.
Age: 7 to 11 years
Holistic & creative program laying foundations for formal ballet training
The Ballet Essence Program offers the joy of movement while exploring the delicate balance between the technique and artistry of classical ballet. Throughout these years the dancer will blossom in skills such as independence and uniqueness, build friendships and develop an intrinsic love of movement and self-expression.
Progression through the five levels of the program stimulates learning experiences that spark imagination and enthusiasm, while building the strength, suppleness and concentration required for formal ballet training.
These are formative years in a dancer’s life and we value the integration of learning at each level.
How dance can support and enhance your child’s learning at this age.
Throughout a five year journey, Ballet Essence classes create a sense of:
- blossoming into greater self-awareness, independence and uniqueness
- exploration, integration and expression of their own learning styles and personality
- greater confidence and responsibility for their own growth
- building friendships
- intrinsic love of dance and movement
- challenge and nurture (in equal measures) is required for the dancer
Stage 1
For dancers in Year 2 at school
The first step of your dancer’s journey through our Ballet Essence program. This year the children will commence barre work (which they think is very grown up), different rhythms become more important, as does working in more rotated positions… but what they love most is learning their flower basket dance.
Stage 2
For dancers in Year 3 at school
The second step of your dancer’s journey through our Ballet Essence program. This year the children will have more complex exercises at the barre, they will continue to work with different rhythms, as well as co-ordinating their arms with travelling steps (which is trickier than you can imagine), incorporating changes of directions and learning where to place their bodies in a croisse line. I think their favourite step is learning to polka, which is so much fun and they really get to feel like they are dancing across the floor.
Stage 3
For dancers in Year 4 at school
The third step of the children’s journey through our Ballet Essence program. This year the students develop a greater understanding of complex rhythms and co-ordinating these rhythms with movement. The direction of their bodies is also emphasised when they are moving, not just standing still, and we are starting to focus more on what happens in a derriere line (behind us).
And everyone’s favourite is learning the Tarantella Dance – fun with tambourines!
Stage 4
For dancers in Year 5 at school
The fourth and final step of our Ballet Essence Program, and your dancer’s graduating year before they step into the next stage of their dancing journey – The Ballet Coda program. It’s a big year of consolidating and refining all aspects of their technique and performance skills in the Junior Program, and it is a very exciting time, offering lots of performance opportunities.

Term 3 – Monday 20th July to Saturday 26th September
Term 4 – Monday 12th October to Friday 11th December
TUITION
75 minute class – $230 per term (based on a 10 week term)
Registration Fee : $60.00

After this course, you could try…
After Ballet Essence, you can move on to our Ballet Coda classes, where you progress through 6-degree levels, learning in depth the technical expertise and artistic beauty of ballet.
